This is the most important feature I'd like to have. I've tried various PC programs and iOS apps that support tagging (e.g. TodoPaper, Workflowy, Outlinely, Taskmator, Editorial) but they are not nearly as useful for task lists or outlining compared to CarbonFin since you can't fold any level of the outline, there is no 'uncheck all' button, and rearranging tasks is not as easy. I use CarbonFin for recurring todo lists such as packing lists and grocery lists so I love the 'uncheck all' feature.
However, I really want tags on each item. For example, in my packing list, I have an item called 'Phone charger cable' under Electronics but I'd like to tag it with @lastminute and @have_handy_in_car for example. I'd like a preference setting to choose whether to see the tags after the item or to hide them. For example the item I'm looking at might say 'Phone charger' or 'Phone charger @lastminute @have_handy_in_car' depending on whether I have selected the option to show/hide the tags. I would not want to have to invoke a context menu in order to see or add/remove the tags, I'd like to see or type them inline.
Also we need the ability to remove all occurrences of a certain tag or rename it. And most critical of all, to optionally show only the items which have a set of tags. For example I'd like the option to temporarily hide all items except those with both @lastminute and @have_handy_in_car, and the items should show the indent level and allow me to check/uncheck the checkbox or type to edit those items or their tags.
I don't want to repeat items in my packing lists but I want to view and edit them in different ways. "Shorts" might be placed in the packing outline under Clothes->Pants but be tagged @summer_only or I might have an item "Electronics->Karoake machine @dad_visit_only".
There is currently no program that both supports outlines and to-do lists as well as CarbonFin but also has the tagging feature as used in taskpaper markdown.
CarbonFin today unfortunately only supports tagging of the outlines, not items (tasks) within outlines.
Also, I'd like to filter to view items which don't contain a certain tag, in other words please allow logical operators in the filters. For my packing list, I might want to temporary display and edit items for tags "@summer, !@swimming_stuff" (exclamation point means NOT for swimming) to show only items that I tagged with @summer but I did not tag as @swimming_stuff.
I would pay quite a bit to be able to have this feature if it were a paid add-on.

This is similar to the suggestion called "#Tag and @tag filtering within the text". Please allow the users to create their own tags, not just a predefined list such as @today or @urgent.
Please allow filtering on multiple tags and the absence of a tag, e.g. show only items with tags "@top_priority !@on_hold" (items that are marked with @top_priority but are not tagged @on_hold).
When showing the filtered items, please allow checking/unchecking and editing the item text and tags (not just view only). Maybe an option to preserve the hierarchical indentation and parent items.
Please include a capability to delete all occurrences of a tag and to rename a tag.
Please allow viewing and typing in tags inline but provide an option to hide them to avoid seeing the clutter, i.e. so I can toggle to see either "Finish design document @top_priority @needs_review" or just "Finish design document".

The reason people are requesting built-in task management features are that no task manager app for iOS has such good outlining capabilities. I keep trying other apps and coming back to CarbonFin to make task lists.
But I agree it is good to allow users to optionally disable the requested task management features so that context menus don't get too cluttered.

I think due dates could be implemented as part of tags as described in the "#Tag and @tag filtering within the text" feature request. It would be great if it were implemented with markdown tags similar to as used in "taskpaper" (see https://guide.taskpaper.com/reference/dates/) or "markdo" (see https://benjaminoakes.github.io/markdo/ ). Perhaps support tags such as: @due(2016-03-18 7pm) , @start(2016-01-01) , @repeat(weekly), @reminder(2016-01-01) , ideally using ISO 8601 date format.
CarbonFin could someday incorporate features like telling you which tasks are overdue, telling you which tasks are coming up soon, support both start date and due date, support repeating tasks, and notifications/reminders/calendar integration.
