Better import/export capability would be the way to go. If Outliner supported Emacs Outline form, then it could work with most any text editor on any desktop platform.

Better import/export would be a better approach here. If Outliner could import/export to Emacs Outline form, that would be usable in most any text editor around (including Emacs). The use of the outllines would expand enormously without needing to rewrite or maintain multiple versions of Outliner.

I think import/export to basic emacs outline form would be more flexible and could work equally well with org-mode. I also think it could be supported by most any text editor and not just those that support OPML.
